I Said To Me is a poetic, hybrid film about the inner and artistic journey of the artist YOUANDI. During the recording of her debut album, she receives a devastating diagnosis: multiple sclerosis. As her physical body begins to fail, she searches for grounding in music, memory, and imagination.
Through a visual blend of documentary and fiction, YOUANDI explores her past, shaped by trauma, violence, and self-destruction, and confronts her memories. Guided by her song lyrics, she moves through her inner mental landscape and gradually finds the strength to face her past and embrace her future. A spiritual, cinematic portrait of survival and inner transformation.
